Important Note: THE APPLICATION PROCESS CLOSED ON 16TH NOVEMBER 2010.
Kiosks are only provided after receipt of a successfully completed Host a Kiosk application and signed Hosting Agreement by NEC. Organisations that are slow to respond will be overtaken by organisations that quickly complete the application and hosting agreement.
The Host a Kiosk application is a three step process (Stage 1, Stage 2 and Hosting Agreement) and can only be initiated online. NEC is using an online process instead of a paper based application because all applicant information is automatically stored into our project database for both NEC and the applicant to easily access. It provides a faster method for approving and processing Host a Kiosk applications.
Stage 1
Commences when you either click the 'Host a Kiosk - click here to apply' orange/blue button on this website's Home page or, you click the 'Applications' tab then the 'Host a Kiosk' selection. Both methods will open the Stage 1 form. All fields with an * must be filled in or submission of the form will not be accepted.
After you submit your Stage 1 form, our database will automatically send an acknowledgement email to the email address you provided. The acknowledgement email will contain your application ticket number, user name and password so you can access your application details online. Please retain this email and, importantly, please ensure you type your email address correctly at Stage 1.
NEC will review your Stage 1 form upon receipt and will progress your application to Stage 2 if we have no questions about the information you provided in Stage 1. We will contact you if we have questions about your Stage 1 responses.
Stage 2
NEC will notify you by email when your application has progressed to Stage 2 and will attach the Stage 2 Application Guide to help you complete the questions. Please read this guide prior to completing Stage 2.
In Stage 2, NEC requires information about your site address, nominated phone line, intended location in your building for the kiosk , your volunteer tutor skills, and if you have an existing broadband service and prefer to connect the kiosk to it.
NEC categorizes a Kiosk as either a Greenfield site (GF) which has no broadband service, or a DSL site (DSL) which has a broadband service.
If your site only has a phone line - then it will be a GF site and you will need to fill in sections 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 of the Stage 2 form.
If your site has a broadband service and you want the BFS Kiosk connected to it - then your site will be a DSL site and you will need to fill in sections 4, 5, 6, 9 and 10 of the Stage 2 form.
NEC will review your Stage 2 form upon receipt and progress your application to the Hosting Agreement stage if there are no questions about the information you have provided in Stage 2. We will contact you if we have questions about your Stage 2 responses.
Hosting Agreement
Following successful completion and evaluation of Stage 2, NEC will draw up the Hosting Agreement and email it to you for signature. You can scan your signed hosting agreement and email it, fax it, or post it back to NEC. Upon receipt, NEC's BFS Project Manager will countersign the hosting agreement and a scanned version will be emailed to you. NEC will then commence the delivery of a BFS Kiosk to your organisation.
How long does the application process take?
The duration of the application process is solely dependent on you. If you furnish all information necessary to demonstrate your organisation meets the project requirements and you then sign the hosting agreement, the whole process could take anywhere between 2 days to 2 months depending on your action.
